Many believe that the internet is a place to waste time, troll, or even reek havoc. Although the internet and social networks alike can be used for these things, it is my belief that more good than bad comes out of using these tools. For example, I help with the philanthropy Push America, which is an organization dedicated to helping the differently abled. I use Facebook to post events and flyers about upcoming events. Most recently I’ve created and organized a Push Benefit Concert. I used Facebook to post the event and through inviting friends and making it an open invitation event, over 50 people will attend. Trying to organize an event like this without Facebook wouldn’t be impossible, but it would be much more difficult to assemble, especially in the short amount of time given to assemble the event. This is just one of the many ways that the internet, specifically social network tools, have helped myself out.
